

Halloween Parade
Tuesday, October 31st marks our annual Halloween Parade. The children will celebrate with a party in their classrooms and then will parade for parents, friends and family. This year, our parade for multi-age and kindergarten classes will be held in front of our school. We ask that parents arrive by 11:15 am in order to find a parking spot on the Street. Please note that our driveway will be blocked off after drop-off in order to make sure that we have enough space to accommod


Examining Brains
Today the children learned about the brain in the Orchard class. We read books about how our body uses our brain to send messages to other parts of our body and help us move, speak, and think. They made brain headbands. We became brain surgeons and used tweezers to extract objects from jello brains. We ended our day by having a special gummy snack of body parts. It was a fun day! Pumpkin Picking at Demarest Farms
We have planned a visit to Demarest Farms in Hillsdale for Friday, October 27th. The trip includes a hayride, pumpkin picking, cider and a donut. The cost is $12.00 per child and includes the cost of the pumpkin, hayride, cider and donuts. There is a $12.00 charge for adults as well. Parents or a caretaker must accompany each child. Grandparents and other family members are invited to share in the fun. Please bring a large sturdy bag to carry your pumpkins. Ms. Megan Murphy a


Vegetable Men
Yesterday in the Orchard classroom the children made vegetable men. As we are studying the human body, we talked about various organs, and re-created these organs using vegetables. We used broccoli for brains, red peppers for rib cages, cucumbers for spines, mushrooms for large and small intestines, and various other vegetables. In total we made three men, which they named Joseph, Robert and Mr. Ranch. After they were finished making the men they got to enjoy them as a specia


Teacher Conference - No School Oct 19th & Oct 20th
Parent Teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, October 19th and Friday, October 20th. MLC will be CLOSED during those 2 days. #parentteacherconferences


Ridgewood Fire Department Visit
This morning we had a visit from the Ridgewood Fire Department. They discussed fire safety and the children were able to see all the gear a fireman wears before he goes into a fire rescue. They were also able to climb aboard the fire truck to see what it looks like inside. I have attached some pictures for you to enjoy. #firedepartment


Germ Experiment
We learned about germs in the Orchard class, The children learned about ways we can help prevent germs from spreading. We did a science experiment with water, dish soap, and black pepper. The children were shown how once soap was placed on their finger and their finger went into the bowl, the pepper moved away from the soap. We talked about the importance of washing our hands and keeping clean.Then they got to color their own germs. I attached some pictures for you to enjoy.


Exersing Our Bodies
For our unit on the Human Body we talked about the importance of exercise to keep our bodies healthy. We went up to the gymnasium and did a variety of exercises. The children did jumping jacks, stretching, running in place, lunges, push ups and big arms. They did some throwing, catching and kicking of balls. They also had some fun doing hula hooping with their arms and waists. I have attached some pictures for you to enjoy. #Humanbody


Human Body Unit
We started our Unit on the Human Body last week in the Orchard classroom, Jacob's mom, a certified nutritionist, was kind enough to come into the classroom and talk to the children about healthy eating. She discussed the various food groups, and they learned about which foods are good to eat all the time, and which foods should only be consumed as a special treat. Columbus Day
Montessori Learning Center will be closed Monday, October 9th 2017 in observance of Columbus Day. We will re-open Tuesday, October 10th 2017. Have a great weekend.
