Occupation Unit- Engineer
Mrs. Miller, Alex's mom, came into The Orchard classroom to talk about her occupation as an industrial engineer. Mrs. Miller is an engineer who works for a bank, making decisions on which companies and people to give money to. The children learned about the different kinds of engineering, such as civil, environmental, computer, mechanical, and aerospace. She showed them pictures of airplanes, tunnels, bridges, televisions, computers, skyscrapers and much more and explained the different types of engineers that would be needed to build these items. Mrs. Miller also read the children a book called "Engineering in our Everyday Lives," and Mr. Miller showed the children a circuit board and explained how it worked. Many thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Miller for coming into the classroom to talk about engineering.Â
