Water Transportation Week

The past two weeks we have been learning about Water Transportation in the Orchard classroom. We set up a water obstacle course for the kids. The children climbed aboard the recycled boat we created and went fishing to see how many fish they could catch. It was not as easy as it looked! Thankfully, the water was not deep so we encouraged them to step outside the boat if need be to catch their fish :)

Then we raced our juice box boats, each child blowing on theirs to see whose would reach the end first. We also placed our clay boats into the water, and chose a teddy bear to steer the sailboat, as the children guided their boat down the stream.

We ended our water obstacle course fun with a little experiment. The children were able to see how combining baking soda and vinegar would create a baking soda powered boat. It was a fun day!
