

Occupation Unit - Import/Expert Specialist
Mr. Walvoord, Theo's dad, was kind enough to come in and talk to The orchard class about his occupation as an import/export specialist of dried fruits and nuts. His job has taken him to over 40 different countries including Africa, Mexico, South America, China and Algeria, just to name a few. Mr. Walvoord purchases fruits and nuts from different countries, brings them back to the United States, and has them processed into dried fruits and nuts. The children were able to ask h


Chinese New Year
The Birds Nest celebrated the Chinese New Year, we paraded with a dragon head, read books and children got chocolate coins as a gift!

Winter Break
Just a reminder, school will be closed tomorrow Friday February 16th - Tuesday February 20th. School will re-open on Wednesday February 21st. Enjoy the break!


Pajama Day in The Orchard Class
The children had a lot of fun today wearing their pajamas. The morning class had pancakes as a special snack and the afternoon class had pizza bites.


Blubber Experiment
These last few weeks we have been learning about hibernation and how animals adapt and stay warm in the winter. We conducted a blubber experiment to see how exactly the blubber helps the animals retain their heat. The children placed their hands in gloves and one hand went into cold water with the glove while the other hand went into the butter blubber and then into the ice water. They were surprised to feel how much warmer the hand that was placed in blubber felt.


Hombres De Nieve
The Spanish class made edible snow men (hombres de nieve) to finish the lesson about winter (el invierno)!


Delayed Opening

Princesses and Pirates
Yesterday the children had fun dressing up as pirates and princesses in the Orchard Class!
