

Occupation Week: Veterinarians, Dr. Andrew Massaro and Dr. Stacey Bartholomew
Our last special guests for occupation week were two veterinarians from Oradell Animal Hospital, Dr. Andrew Massaro and Dr. Stacey Bartholomew. Both veterinarians were kind enough to come in with their animals, Penny the dog and Sea Bass the cat, to show the children the tools they use on a daily basis to help treat animals. They discussed what foods the animals can and can't eat and each child who wanted to was able to listen to the animals hearts with the vets stethoscopes.


Occupation Week: Officer DiBenedetto from the Ridgewood Police Department
Our special guest for today was Officer DiBenedetto from the Ridgewood Police Department. Officer DiBenedetto shared with the children all of his many job responsibilities. He showed them his shield and bullet proof vest along with all of the tools on his belt, including his pepper spray, radio, flashlight, handcuffs, baton, and gun. Occupation Week: Field Trip!
The children had a great time on our field trip to the Kings shopping center yesterday! Mrs. D showed the children around all the areas of the supermarket and explained to the children the various jobs that all the departments are responsible for. First the children chatted with the produce man and learned how he rotates the produce each morning. Then we went to the cheese department and the kids got a lesson on how Amy in the cheese area packages and grates various cheeses.


Occupation Week: Mrs. Fila (& Mr. Fila), Owners of Anthony Francos Restaurant & Pizzeria in
Yesterday's special guest for Occupation week was Mrs. Fila (Ella's mom). Mr. & Mrs. Fila are the owners of Anthony Francos Restaurant & Pizzeria in Paramus, as well as other locations in Bergen County. Mr. Fila was kind enough to precook pizza dough and assemble the ingredients needed so that each child could create their own mini pizza to take home and bake.The children had a blast spreading their sauce and adding their cheese and pepperoni. Occupation Week: Ms. Maynard, Medical Sales
Yesterday's special guest for Occupation week was Ms. Maynard (Alex's mom). Ms. Maynard works in medical sales and sells and educates doctors and diabetic patients on how to use the latest insulin pumps. She explained to the children that there are two types of diabetes and discussed the role of the pancreas as an organ in our bodies, and what happens when our pancreas does not produce enough insulin. Occupation Week: Mrs. Lefkowitz, History and Law Teacher
Today's special guest for Occupation week was Mrs. Lefkowitz (Lilly's mom). Mrs. Lefkowitz is a High School teacher who teaches history and law at Paramus High School. She shared with the children the difference in their school day experience to a high school student's day. The children enjoyed hearing about how high school kids get to drive themselves to school and how most of them have five or six teachers instead of two. Occupation Week: Mr. Winnert, Investment Banker
The Orchard AM children welcomed into the classroom Mr. Winnert (Ryan's Dad). Mr. Winnert is an investment banker and talked to the children about how he helps people trade. He was extremely creative in explaining his profession, as he gave each child a brown paper bag filled with small toys. Occupation Week: Mr. Larson, Agent in the Opera Industry, Mrs. Larson, American Express
Special guests for Occupation week were Mr. & Mrs. Larson (Andrew's parents). Mrs. Larson talked briefly about her job working for American Express. Then Mr. Larson shared with the children his occupation as an agent in the opera industry, He explained to the children that opera is a story told through singing, often in a different language such as German or Italian. Occupation Week: Officer Rellinger
So many amazing guests this week! We had a special visit from Officer Rellinger (Ms. Rellinger's daughter). Officer Rellinger works as a police officer for the Ridgefield Park Police Department. She came into the classroom and talked to the children about the various duties of an officer. She explained that the children should not be afraid to ask an officer for help, as policemen are here to protect and help people. Officer Rellinger explained how she used the various tools

Yesterday's special guest for Occupation week was Ms. Joanna (Rosie & Rory's mom). Ms. Joanna is a yoga teacher who teaches fitness instruction to children and adults. She came into the classroom and showed the children a variety of yoga poses which they were able to practice along with her.
